Animayo Internacional Film Festival of Animation

The International Film Festival Animayo presents the premiere of the Official Awards – Animayo 2025. The International Jury selected 15 winners from 2,000 films from over 80 countries. Only 50 were chosen for the official competition. Animayo is the first and only animation festival in Spain designated as a "Qualifying Festival" by the Academy of Motion Picture Arts and Sciences for the Oscar® Awards in two categories: International Animated Short Film – Animayo International Grand Jury Prize (since 2018), and Best Short Film in Spanish – "Animación con Ñ" (since 2023). In the last five years, Animayo shorts earned 4 Oscar® nominations and 1 win for In the Shadow of the Cypress. The screening features award-winning animated short films for their artistic, narrative, and technical excellence, including Playing God, by Matteo Burani and Arianna Gheller (Grand Jury Prize 2025), and Nube, by Diego Alonso Sánchez de la Barquera Estrada and Christian Arredondo Narváez (Best “Animación con Ñ”). Both qualified directly for Oscar® pre-selection. Also featured: Best 3D, Screenplay, Comedy, VFX, Independent Short, New Talent, Social Short, Cinematic Spots and Music Videos.
