The Art of Imagining the Future

David Vyle Levy

Why do humans constantly imagine the future? And what makes great science fiction resonate across generations? In this lecture, concept artist and Art Director David Levy explores science fiction not as a genre, but as a way of thinking. Through examples from Avatar, TRON: Legacy, Dune Prophecy, Star Wars and other productions, you’ll learn how the strongest fictional worlds are built on meaningful themes, believable design, and a deep understanding of human nature. Whether you’re creating for film, games, books or personal projects, you’ll leave with practical methods for designing futures that inspire curiosity—and ultimately, hope.
