Harpy Books is proud to present IDOLS from artist and illustrator Jesse Balmer, featuring works created between 2018 and 2025. The collection presents snapshots from unknown stories, the people who tell them, and the idols that spring forth from them. With a foreword by artist and illustrator Matthew Houston, the imagery and text encourage the viewer to open themselves to the unknowable, surrender to the inevitable and find some solidarity in the reminder that all who walk this earth must do the same.
Growing out of the brick-and-mortar gallery known as HARPY, HARPY BOOKS is an independent publisher dedicated to experimental narratives, beautiful imagery, and well-crafted books. With a focus on the intersection between illustration, design, and fine art, HARPY has begun its new journey with releases from Jesse Balmer and Michael Olivo, with plans to release books from Em Kettner and James Coffman in 2027.
