Jeff Ranjo (He/Him)

Jeff Ranjo is an Emmy Award winning and BAFTA nominated Writer, Story Artist and Character Designer who has been instrumental in developing many big box-office animation successes. He spent 18 years at Disney Animation and made a snowman sing about summer in Frozen and gave the god Maui a conscience (mini-Maui) in Moana. At Sony, he was Head of Story on the critically acclaimed Surf’s Up. Other story credits include Disney’s Meet The Robinsons, The Emperor’s New Groove, and Sony’s Cloudy With A Chance of Meatballs. Recently, he co-executive produced, and was Head of Story on the Netflix award-winning Maya and the Three Limited Series. He has contributed to and published comic books, and he is known for his monster illustrations. He co-founded Halo-Halo House, Inc. with creative partner Mary Claire Scanlon, where he has also consulted and contributed to productions at Warner Brothers, Alcon, Nickelodeon, The Jim Henson Company and Illumination.

Join a heartfelt conversation among friends as they reflect on their journeys in animation. Tony Siruno, Joe Moshier, Dave Pimentel, Jeff Ranjo, and Mike Wu all started in animation around the same time and attended Calarts. Together, they worked at Disney, Pixar, and Dreamworks Animation Studios. Armand Baltazar and Tony Siruno also became friends while working at Dreamworks. Over the years, they all become acquainted through various studio networks, crossing paths multiple times.

No one could have predicted the journey that lay ahead. Through the ebb and flow of animation and production, moments of collaboration have led to camaraderie, kinship, and lasting friendship.
