Jorge R. Gutierrez. Born in Mexico City and raised in Tijuana, Gutierrez displayed an early passion for art and storytelling. He pursued his creative dreams with unwavering determination, earning a BFA and MFA degree at CalArts. His directorial debut, "The Book of Life" (2014), showcased his distinctive style, blending visually stunning animation with rich narratives inspired by Mexican folklore. Beyond his acclaimed work in film, Gutierrez has ventured into television, creating (with wife Sandra Equihua) the Emmy winning animated tv series “El Tigre: The Adventures of Manny Rivera” (2008) and "Maya and the Three" (2021), which continue to enchant audiences worldwide. He's currently developing multiple projects at NETFLIX Animation including the animated feature film "I, Chihuahua!"
