Joshua Cordes

Trained in computer animation at SVA in Midtown and educated in film by screen hopping multiplexes and savoring the last days of Times Square’s movie palaces, Joshua Cordes’s work spans decades, disciplines, genres and styles. Though initially focused on character animation, working with top directors who mined his encyclopedic film knowledge mutated Joshua into a layout artist. With precision framing and creative blocking, he sees the challenges of intimate dialog and smash mouth action to be equally exciting. As a credited DGA 2nd Unit Director and “B” camera operator, his hands-on experience with lensing, camera operation and scene blocking under the pressures of a live set lend his work a sense of weight, organic movement and cinematic authenticity. Recent credits include “Ready Player One”, “Marvel’s Spider-Man”, “Marvel’s Spider-Man: Miles Morales”, “Rumble”, “The Tiger’s Apprentice” and “Transformers One”.
