Kai Lun Qu (He/Him)
Traditional Artist
Kai Lun Qu is a professional oil painter, licensed artist for both Marvel and DC, known for blending classical realism with contemporary pop culture imagery. Predominantly self-taught, he built his career over the past 15 years with the belief that high-level painting is a skill that can be learned through discipline and deliberate practice.
Kai is a recipient of the Certificate of Excellence from the Portrait Society of America and has served on faculty for both the Portrait Society of America Conference and the Vision X Global Art Conference. He has twice been selected as an international judge for the prestigious Almenara Art Prize. His work has appeared in PleinAir Magazine, PoetsArtists Magazine, and Southwest Art Magazine’s “21 Under 31,” and has been exhibited in galleries and museums across the United States, including the U.S. Capitol.
Commercially, Kai has contributed artwork for Marvel SNAP, Upper Deck, and multiple comic publishers including Ablaze Publishing. He was also personally selected by acclaimed author Dan Simmons to create 12 paintings for the limited edition of Carrion Comfort published by Suntup Editions. He currently teaches workshops worldwide and in Vegas
