Pablo Diaz de Leon Hicks is a Mexican filmmaker and animation director, currently working as a Previs Artist at Netflix Animation. He completed his MFA in Animation at USC’s School of Cinematic Arts, where he wrote, directed, and animated his thesis film Blooky: The Book Who Wanted to Be Read. The film was longlisted for a Student BAFTA alongside 9 projects from around the world, nominated at the 45th College Television Awards (Student Emmys), and won the Emerging Filmmaker Showcase at the American Pavilion at Cannes. It has screened at Palm Springs ShortFest, SIGGRAPH, San Diego Comic-Con, SIFF Seattle, FICG Guadalajara, and other international festivals. He has previously worked at Proof Inc. on Stranger Things 5 and TRON: Ares, as well as at Technicolor Creative Studios, Mighty Animation, and Microsoft Research. He is also a recipient of the Jenkins-Del Toro Award (presented by Guillermo Del Toro) and the USC John Huston Directing Scholarship.
