Sonia Lai (like pie) is a Bay Area illustrator whose doodling debut commenced in 2nd grade with the release of a comic series Dingo Dude and Gator Guy. As an adult she started taking art classes to distract herself during the final year of her doctorate program at Johns Hopkins (rest assured, her thesis was still completed on time).
She is most recognized for her book covers with Tor Books on the Dune series, for which she received a gold medal from the Society of Illustrators (LA). She has also completed several book covers for large publishers including Macmillan, Harper Collins, Simon & Schuster, and Bloomsbury.
When she’s not drawing she works as a Nurse Practitioner and enjoys the unique challenges of balancing art, medicine, and getting enough sleep.
