Thibault Leclercq is the Director of LAIKA’s Annie Award™-nominated CG short film ParaNorman: The Thrifting (2025) and Principal Character Designer of LAIKA’s upcoming Wildwood (2026), ensuring that the artistic vision carries seamlessly from his initial 2D design to the final puppet on screen. He's also been working on other Laika features that are currently in development. Previously, Thibault worked in character design, 2D animation, and storyboarding for studios including Mikros Animation, House of Cool, Framestore, Fortiche Productions, Passion Pictures, and Mathematics - contributing to films and series such as Arcane, Age of Sail, Sgt. Stubby, and Charlotte. Before The Thrifting, he directed several award-winning short films in animation and live action, including Hors de l’eau, Au Lapin Agile, Les Eveillés, and Il y a le Feu, which have been recognized at film festivals worldwide.

Join us for an inside look at the unique and charming characters of LAIKA’s latest feature film, Wildwood, where we’ll explore the highly collaborative process from early 2D character development to 3D sculpted maquette that inform our stop motion puppets.

Drawing from years of daily artistic dialogue, we’ll discuss finding character, design philosophy, translating 2D into 3D, and bringing life to an unanimated sculpture, as well as production workflow and the specific artistic world of Wildwood.
