Zar Galstyan is an Annie award winning character designer and Wood Burning Artist currently working in the animation industry. She has a deep love of telling stories through the characters she designs and helps bring to life. She spent 10 years working at Pixar Animation Studios designing characters on films such as Toy Story 3, Coco, Onward, Turning Red, and Elemental among others. She is currently a freelance artist helping develop characters for studios such as Baobab, Walt Disney Feature, Dreamworks Animation, and Skydance. As a first generation immigrant from Armenia, her culture continues to be a well of inspiration for her personal work, which is mostly expressed through her favorite medium, wood-burning. She is very excited to be exhibiting at Lightbox this year, and cannot wait to share her artwork and connect!
